Abdul Rahman Al Yahya

Abdul Rahman Al Yahya is an engineer who has worked at the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums since 1999, where he worked within the engineering and buildings department.

He was a supervisor over several projects within the M’arat al-Numan Museum, such as the Maarat al-Numan Museum maintenance project, Khan Murad Pasha, the museum display development project, the restoration of the fourth wing, Khan Asaad Pasha restoration project, and many maintenance projects in the Aleppo Museum,

 in addition to documenting the archaeological sites and registration decisions, where Al-Yahya prepared the files to register the archaeological parks of the Maarat al-Numan District, Jarada, Al-Ruwaiha, Shansharah, and Al-Rabiah

Abdul Rahman has participated in several national and international courses, including in cooperation with the Aga Khan Foundation and the European Partnership

Al Yahya established the Center for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in 2014, focusing on three axes: Archaeological documentation, emergency intervention, and site protection.

The center has documented the current status of archaeological sites and buildings also developed plans to preserve these archaeological sites and historical buildings, in addition to restoration work in the Maarat al-Numan and Apamea Museums and many protection works were carried out at the archaeological sites

, Al-Yahya worked on reviving the intangible heritage through workshops for children such as the music and storyteller workshop, in addition to many workshops such as mosaic, Arabic calligraphy, clay and pottery, and triple and two-dimensional photography.

Abd al-Rahman al-Yahya is a member of thearchaeologist.news, writes articles, and prepares reports on preserving Syria’s cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.
