Mr. Khaled Hiatlih a Palestinian- Syrian archaeologist, Before the conflict in Syria, he was associated with the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums in Damascus. Currently working with the Institute for Digital Archaeology in Oxford, he explores and leads the potential of new technologies to repair and reconstruct destroyed archaeological monuments and sites. He got his archaeological degree from BYU university in the U.S.A and from Damascus University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Hiatlih worked in many projects in Syria such as rehabilitation of the Folk museum (Azem Palace) in Damascus and the Syrian Mosaic Project as part of a database project with the European center for Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments -Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2012 he moved to work in the General Director Office of antiquities and museums in Syria as an Expert. He ran many national campaigns to protect Syrian cultural heritage in the conflict time, and he worked closely in documenting and tracking smuggled Syrian cultural artifacts and recording the damages and violations to Syrian heritage since the crisis started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later Mr. Hiatlih left Syria; he kept his passion for cultural heritage so he participated in many cultural initiatives in the Netherlands trying to raise awareness to protect endangered Syrian cultural heritage as a part of the Global human Heritage. Also, he is running an educational cultural program for kids in Syria incorporation with TDA-HPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
